That letter was mailed from Miami (Key largo, actually) bc the line at the NYC post office was so looong! In Key Largo? One person. But yes, the real thing is pretty cool! thanks!

I enjoyed learning the history of wax seals with Kathryn and watching you both make them. I've received letters with both "prefab" storebought wax (adhesive) seals and one very recent note from Miami 😉with an authentic wax seal. The difference is stunning and I did fall in love with letters again because of this very personal touch!

I was thrilled to know you and Kathryn had connected when I heard you as a guest on her marvelous podcast “1 Sealed Letter” (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/1-sealed-letter/id1526870893?i=1000727146434). Now this delightful article makes me want to pull out the wax and seal and accessories I got from her (some of it a gift from her) and use them more often. When I was a teenager, I had those sticks of sealing wax that had a wick embedded so all you had to do was light the wick, as a candle, and drip the wax directly onto your letter.

Anyone even remotely serious about letter writing needs to listen to Kathryn’s podcast. I have spotlighted her before in my newsletter, but she deserves a wide audience because of her dedication and authentic passion for letter writing and wax seals as artistic expression.

This was a wonderful post!

But of course you were melting sealing wax as a teenager! Love that. Kathryn is great. We need to start a club. :)
