Thank you, Karen!

I love this. I never thought of handwriting as a little piece of our identity, but it really is. I can recognize certain people’s handwriting immediately, and seeing the handwriting of someone who is gone can bring them right back for a moment. There is something a typed message just can’t replace.

And I had to laugh at writing “I will not talk in class” over and over. Apparently teachers were secretly teaching penmanship while trying to keep us quiet. 😂 I’m glad cursive is being taught again. Some things are worth carrying forward.

Yes, teachers were tricky...but effective! I'm glad that seeing someone's handwriting brings them back to you too, if only briefly. A gift for sure!

I love this. Handwriting carries so much more than words.(mine is terrible, good thing i am typing and not writing. Because nobody would know what commentary is) I can still recognize the handwriting of people I love, and seeing it can bring back a whole memory in seconds. In a world where so much is typed, there is something wonderfully personal about a handwritten note. And I’m glad cursive is being taught again. Some old school things deserve a comeback. ❤️

Old School for sure! And the benefits of writing by hand helping thinking and emotions are priceless. Especially today when many kids suffer from depression. Less social media, more writing letters!

Oh how I love this rediscovered appreciation for a skill we all learned so long ago (some of us longer than others! ;-))—cursive writing. It is, indeed, a tool for connection, not only with another person but with history! I'm so thrilled that school systems are waking up to the mistake they made in removing the teaching of cursive writing from the curriculum. Next week, I'm writing about what they're doing in Sweden to reverse their error in going "all digital."

Right! At least they're getting back to it. And now you've piqued my curiosity about what's going on in Sweden. Until next week when we tune in...

I never before thought of learning to write legibly as teachers giving us the ability to connect and communicate with others, but I appreciate that lightbulb moment! It reminds me of all the park benches I’ve seen that say, “If you can read this, thank a teacher.” Great reminder, thanks!
