Advice given to me by a wise person: don't write and mail a letter written in pique!

And I agree with @Gloria Hanson in her reminder not to send a letter in anger. I love the story of Abraham Lincoln, who is known for having surrounded himself with rivals and adversaries as well as with friends and compatriots. After his death, letters were found that he had written in anger or frustration over one disagreement or another. On each he noted, “Never signed. Never sent.”
