Love your comment, your philosophy and your appreciation for these people who go above and beyond! With so many technological ways to connect, we're somehow not connecting like we used to: face to face, speaking our appreciation. Thank you for sharing!
I adore that you took the time to engage your mail carrier in conversation AND wrote her a note! I enjoyed a friendship with George and Linda, past mail carriers. George retired and Linda is on leave for health reasons. My current mail carrier, Nancy, always has a big smile on her face. Also, I love the tip of using the last 4 to get letters delivered faster! What a neat tip, so thanks to you and to Kim.
We've just gotten a new postal delivery woman, Megan, and she replaced Wendy who had been delivering our mail for years. Wendy became our hero during COVID when she (and other postal workers) took serious risks to deliver our mail and keep us connected with the outside world. I definitely let her know how much that was appreciated.
Another wonderful thing to do, if your postal delivery person goes above and beyond, is to write a letter to his/her supervisor or, better yet, to whoever is supervisor in your nearest major post office. I helped someone craft such a letter one time and it ended up with that worker being recognized by her regional office with an award.
I loved, loved, loved your interview with Kim. As I love to remind people, my passion for writing notes and letters has very little to do with etiquette and everything to do with connection. Connection matters, and that starts with making sure everyone in your life, at every level, feels seen and appreciated.
And I love that you know George, Linda and Nancy's names!!!!

That's so great!!! I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

Great post.
Thanks, you inspired me to leave a postcard in my mailbox for the postman.
